Nurdles

Drifting in a turquoise sea, the red-haired girl of Nurdles becomes part of the water itself, her floating locks entwined with the fragile life beneath the surface. Yet, within the reflection of her oversized goggles, two opposing realities unfold. One lens reveals the harsh truth - plastic pollution scattered across the sand, tiny Nurdles, or Mermaid’s Tears, lost among the grains. A stream of blue plastic spills over the goggle and down her face, a single tear.

Entangled within her hair, a fish struggles against the grip of discarded fishing line, a silent victim of human waste. Yet, in her hands, she cradles another fish, offering protection, a gesture of hope. A Puffin perches nearby, clutching a single blue Nurdle in its beak, a stark reminder of the seabirds that mistake plastic for food, their fragile lives threatened.

But in the other lens, hope remains with a pristine bay, golden sands untouched, clear waters glistening in the light. A vision of what could be, if only we choose to act. Nurdles is both a lament and a call to action, reminding us that the ocean’s future rests in our hands.
