Collection: On Reflection

This series of five paintings, On Reflection, explores the duality of human impact on the planet, both the destruction we have caused and the hope we are striving to restore. Each portrait presents a young girl wearing oversized goggles, their reflective lenses capturing two contrasting worlds. In one lens, a man-made environmental disaster unfolds, a stark reminder of the damage inflicted upon our earth. In the other, an alternate vision emerges - a world in balance, where nature thrives, symbolising the efforts to heal and re-wild our planet.

Each painting is deeply rooted in symbolism, each one echoing the five elements of Daoist philosophy: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. This ancient belief system emphasises the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world, advocating stewardship over ownership. On Reflection serves as both a mirror to our past and a window to our future, inviting us to contemplate our responsibility in shaping the world we leave behind.
