In 'Betty Davis Eyes,' the raw, expressive nature of oil stick paint takes centre stage, allowing texture and imperfection to tell the story of a captivating woman. Working with a limited palette, I blend colours directly on the wood panel, embracing the smudges and strokes as intentional marks that reveal hints of a story – the smudge of lipstick, a defiant gaze. What has she seen? Was it a hard night out, a rough encounter, or simply a good time? With her bold, direct stare, she dares you to look closer, to fall under the spell of her Betty Davis Eyes. Each brushstroke is a clue, a question, an invitation to connect with the narrative embedded in the texture of the paint.
